عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

About what are they asking one another? info

2 : 78

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

About the great news[1821] - info

[1821] i.e., the Resurrection.

التفاسير:

3 : 78

ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ

That over which they are in disagreement. info

4 : 78

كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

No! They are going to know. info

5 : 78

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

Then, no! They are going to know. info

6 : 78

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا

Have We not made the earth a resting place? info

7 : 78

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا

And the mountains as stakes?[1822] info

[1822] To stabilize the land and balance the earth.

8 : 78

وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا

And We created you in pairs info
التفاسير:

9 : 78

وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا

And made your sleep [a means for] rest info

10 : 78

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا

And made the night as clothing[1823] info

[1823] Covering you in darkness and providing rest.

11 : 78

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا

And made the day for livelihood info

12 : 78

وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] info

13 : 78

وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا

And made [therein] a burning lamp info

14 : 78

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا

And sent down from the rain clouds pouring water info

15 : 78

لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation info

16 : 78

وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا

And gardens of entwined growth. info

17 : 78

إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - info

18 : 78

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes info

19 : 78

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways info
التفاسير:

20 : 78

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. info

21 : 78

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait info

22 : 78

لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا

For the transgressors, a place of return, info
التفاسير:

23 : 78

لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا

In which they will remain for ages [unending]. info

24 : 78

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink. info
التفاسير:

25 : 78

إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - info

26 : 78

جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا

An appropriate recompense.[1824] info

[1824] In proportion to and comparable with their crimes.

27 : 78

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا

Indeed, they were not expecting an account info

28 : 78

وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا

And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. info

29 : 78

وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا

But all things We have enumerated in writing. info
التفاسير:

30 : 78

فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."[1825] info

[1825] This announcement will be made to the companions of Hell.

31 : 78

إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment[1826] - info

[1826] Of security, success and reward, including escape and safety from Hell.

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا

Gardens and grapevines info
التفاسير:

33 : 78

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا

And young women [companions] of equal age. info

34 : 78

وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا

And a full cup.[1827] info

[1827] Of wine which is delicious and does not intoxicate.

35 : 78

لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّٰبٗا

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood - info

36 : 78

جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,[1828] info

[1828] i.e., as a result of both their own righteous deeds and the limitless generosity of Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) . Another meaning is "a gift calculated [to be adequate]."

37 : 78

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.[1829] info

[1829] None of Allāh's creatures can plead with Him on the Day of Judgement except by His permission.

38 : 78

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا

The Day that the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct. info

39 : 78

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا

That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.[1830] info

[1830] i.e., a direct route through correct beliefs and righteous deeds.

40 : 78

إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا

Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth[1831] and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!" info

[1831] i.e., the deeds he did in this world, which await him in the Hereafter.
