يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُدَّثِّرُ

 1. O you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) enveloped in garments! info

قُمۡ فَأَنذِرۡ

 2. Arise and warn! info

وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرۡ

 3. And magnify your Lord (Allâh)! info

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرۡ

 4. And purify your garments! info

5 : 74

وَٱلرُّجۡزَ فَٱهۡجُرۡ

 5. And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! info

وَلَا تَمۡنُن تَسۡتَكۡثِرُ

 6. And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of obedience to Allâh as a favour to Him). info

وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصۡبِرۡ

 7. And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allâh)! info

8 : 74

فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي ٱلنَّاقُورِ

 8. Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. the second blowing of the horn). info

فَذَٰلِكَ يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَوۡمٌ عَسِيرٌ

 9. Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day - info

عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ غَيۡرُ يَسِيرٖ

 10. Far from easy for the disbelievers. info

11 : 74

ذَرۡنِي وَمَنۡ خَلَقۡتُ وَحِيدٗا

 11. Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created lonely (without any wealth or children etc, i.e. Al-Walîd bin Al-Mughîrah Al-Makhzûmî)! info

وَجَعَلۡتُ لَهُۥ مَالٗا مَّمۡدُودٗا

 12. And then granted him resources in abundance. info

وَبَنِينَ شُهُودٗا

 13. And children to be by his side. info

وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمۡهِيدٗا

 14. And made life smooth and comfortable for him. info

ثُمَّ يَطۡمَعُ أَنۡ أَزِيدَ

 15. After all that he desires that I should give more; info

كَلَّآۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِأٓيَٰتِنَا عَنِيدٗا

 16. Nay! Verily, he has been opposing Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations). info

سَأُرۡهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا

 17. I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa‘ûd, or) face a severe torment! info

إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ

 18. Verily, he thought and plotted. info

فَقُتِلَ كَيۡفَ قَدَّرَ

 19. So let him be cursed: how he plotted! info

20 : 74

ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيۡفَ قَدَّرَ

 20. And once more let him be cursed: how he plotted! info

ثُمَّ نَظَرَ

 21. Then he thought. info

ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ

 22. Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; info

ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ

 23. Then he turned back, and was proud. info

24 : 74

فَقَالَ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ يُؤۡثَرُ

 24. Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old, info

إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوۡلُ ٱلۡبَشَرِ

 25. "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" info

26 : 74

سَأُصۡلِيهِ سَقَرَ

 26. I will cast him into Hell-fire.[1] info

27 : 74

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ

 27. And what will make you know (exactly) what Hell-fire is? info

لَا تُبۡقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ

 28. It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! info

لَوَّاحَةٞ لِّلۡبَشَرِ

 29. Burning and blackening the skins! info

عَلَيۡهَا تِسۡعَةَ عَشَرَ

 30. Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). info

31 : 74

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةٗۖ وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا عِدَّتَهُمۡ إِلَّا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيَسۡتَيۡقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَيَزۡدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِيمَٰنٗا وَلَا يَرۡتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ وَٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِي مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلۡبَشَرِ

 31. And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire. And We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Qur’ân is the truth as it agrees with their Books regarding the number (19) which is written in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and that the believers may increase in Faith (as this Qur’ân is the truth), and that no doubt may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allâh intends by this (curious) example ?" Thus Allâh leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. info

كَلَّا وَٱلۡقَمَرِ

 32. Nay! And by the moon info

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذۡ أَدۡبَرَ

 33. And by the night when it withdraws. info

وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَآ أَسۡفَرَ

 34. And by the dawn when it brightens. info

إِنَّهَا لَإِحۡدَى ٱلۡكُبَرِ

 35. Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest (signs). info

نَذِيرٗا لِّلۡبَشَرِ

 36. A warning to mankind - info

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوۡ يَتَأَخَّرَ

 37. To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by committing sins). info

كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡ رَهِينَةٌ

 38. Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, info

إِلَّآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡيَمِينِ

 39. Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islâmic Monotheism). info

40 : 74

فِي جَنَّٰتٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

 40. In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, info

41 : 74

عَنِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

 41. About Al-Mujrimûn (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers), (And they will say to them): info

42 : 74

مَا سَلَكَكُمۡ فِي سَقَرَ

 42. "What has caused you to enter Hell?" info

43 : 74

قَالُواْ لَمۡ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُصَلِّينَ

 43. They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer the Salât (prayers),[2] info

وَلَمۡ نَكُ نُطۡعِمُ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينَ

 44. "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskîn (the poor); info

وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلۡخَآئِضِينَ

 45. "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allâh hated) with vain talkers.[3] info

وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ

 46. And we used to belie the Day of Recompense,[4] info

حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلۡيَقِينُ

 47. "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." info

فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمۡ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ

48. So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. info

49 : 74

فَمَا لَهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلتَّذۡكِرَةِ مُعۡرِضِينَ

 49. Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the polytheists, the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? info

كَأَنَّهُمۡ حُمُرٞ مُّسۡتَنفِرَةٞ

 50. As if they were (frightened) wild donkeys. info

51 : 74

فَرَّتۡ مِن قَسۡوَرَةِۭ

 51. Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. info

52 : 74

بَلۡ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰ صُحُفٗا مُّنَشَّرَةٗ

 52. Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allâh with a writing that Islâm is the right religion, and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has come with the truth from Allâh, the Lord of the heavens and earth). info

كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ

 53. Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allâh’s punishment). info

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذۡكِرَةٞ

 54. Nay, verily, this (Qur’an) is an admonition, info

55 : 74

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ

 55. So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! info

56 : 74

وَمَا يَذۡكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ هُوَ أَهۡلُ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ وَأَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ

 56. And they will not receive admonition unless Allâh wills; He (Allâh) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilâh (god) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). info
