As-Sāffāt
1
:
37
وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفّٗا
By those [angels] lined up in rows
التفاسير:
2
:
37
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجۡرٗا
And those who drive [the clouds]
التفاسير:
3
:
37
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا
And those who recite the message,[1286]
[1286] To the prophets or among themselves. Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) swears by these three kinds of angels to the fact mentioned in the following verse.
التفاسير:
4
:
37
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمۡ لَوَٰحِدٞ
Indeed, your God is One,
التفاسير:
5
:
37
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.[1287]
[1287] i.e., each point or place of sunrise.
التفاسير:
6
:
37
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
التفاسير:
7
:
37
وَحِفۡظٗا مِّن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ مَّارِدٖ
And as protection against every rebellious devil
التفاسير:
8
:
37
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَيُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٖ
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,[1288]
[1288] By flaming meteors.
التفاسير:
9
:
37
دُحُورٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ وَاصِبٌ
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
التفاسير:
10
:
37
إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ ثَاقِبٞ
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
التفاسير:
11
:
37
فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَآۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٖ لَّازِبِۭ
Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.

12
:
37
بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَيَسۡخَرُونَ
But you wonder, while they mock,
التفاسير:
13
:
37
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ لَا يَذۡكُرُونَ
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
التفاسير:
14
:
37
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.
التفاسير:
15
:
37
وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٌ
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
التفاسير:
16
:
37
أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
التفاسير:
17
:
37
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
And our forefathers [as well]?"
التفاسير:
18
:
37
قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَٰخِرُونَ
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
التفاسير:
19
:
37
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ فَإِذَا هُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
التفاسير:
20
:
37
وَقَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
التفاسير:
21
:
37
هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
التفاسير:
22
:
37
۞ ٱحۡشُرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡبُدُونَ
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds,[1289] and what they used to worship
[1289] Those similar to them in evil deeds. Another possible meaning is "their wives."
التفاسير:
23
:
37
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
التفاسير:
24
:
37
وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
