They thought that those who followed the way of Shuʿayb (عليه السلام) were missing out on real opportunities to amass wealth, giving little thought to the legality and ethicality of their transactions (cf. al-Ṭabarī, al-Baghawī, Ibn Kathīr, al-Rāzī).
